We Have More Than Two Candidates!
Another week goes by and the country remains fixated on the two least qualified, least deserving candidates in the race for the Oval Office. It has been a relatively slow week, but still chock full of stupidity from Dems and GOP.
Donald Trump did get away with one goof this week. When Phyllis Schlafly died, Trump took to Twitter, ill-advisedly, as he does almost every day. In his reaction to the news, he couldn’t help but make the sad event about himself. This is his tweet: “The truly great Phyllis Schlafly, who honored me with her strong endorsement for president, has passed away at 92. She was very special!” There are so many things he gets slammed for in the press that he doesn’t actually do, I thought it odd they gave him a pass on this one.
Stranger still was how they let the grownup statement written for him go with out mention of the first creepy “me” statement. This is what the campaign wrote on Trump’s behalf: "Phyllis Schlafly is a conservative icon who led millions to action, reshaped the conservative movement, and fearlessly battled globalism and the ‘kingmakers’ on behalf of America’s workers and families. I was honored to spend time with her during this campaign as she waged one more great battle for national sovereignty. I was able to speak with her by phone only a few weeks ago, and she sounded as resilient as ever. Our deepest prayers go to her family and all her loved ones. She was a patriot, a champion for women, and a symbol of strength. She fought every day right to the end for America First. Her legacy will live on in the movement she led and the millions she inspired.”
I say “on his behalf” with complete confidence. He clearly didn’t write the statement. The Donald is incapable of anything close to such erudition. Oh, and please don’t write and say, “But Trump wrote books!” His books were ghost-written. Nothing in those books, or in the campaign statement, comes anywhere near the low level on which Trump communicates.
But for once, he caught a break. It was one less thing the campaign had to try to explain away this week.
But Fair is Fair
I make no apologies for bashing Trump. He is no better for the country than BJ Bill’s wife. But when Dems and their media lapdogs attack him with inaccuracies, I’ll take his side as I would for anyone else.
Lately, the big story is Trump’s praise of Putin. Half the country now thinks Trump loves Putin and Russia. But I have read as much as I can on this and caught video. Clearly, the things Trump says about Putin are only favorable in the sense that Trump has compared him to BHO. This is always to Obama’s disadvantage. Any other read on this is a lie. Trump isn’t stating his view of Putin outside of this context. And, of course, in the space of eight years, Putin HAS taken advantage of the leadership vacuum left by our present administration. On every level, the Russians have bested our president. This wasn’t any great feat. In a battle of wits or balls, Barry is unarmed.
To say Putin is a better man than BHO doesn’t mean it is okay for Russia to be in the Crimea. It doesn’t mean one favors Russian support for Assad. (Look at the shape of Assad’s head. Is he related to Beaker from the Muppets?) It simply means that our president is so weak and ineffective, Putin actually looks good by comparison.
The Humdinger
The story that really set my teeth on edge this week was BJ Bill Clinton’s assertion that “Make America Great Again” is racist. His explanation? “If you’re a white Southerner, you know what I’m talking about.”
Uh, what?
You’re a white Southerner, BJ Bill. Are you saying white Southerners are still ALL racists? Is all this really just code for you telling people you actually support Trump and not your “wife”?
Seriously, this is rich coming from WJC. His friends and political mentors were Orville Faubus, once Governor of Arkansas and Senator William Fullbright. Two drooling racists if ever there were racists. Clinton always campaigned on stages festooned with the flag of the Army of Northern Virginia while running for governor. I’m sure there were more than a few around when he ran for president as well. (Historically ignorant people call that the Confederate Flag)
The kicker is that Bill Clinton used the same phrase repeatedly in his stump speeches during both his campaigns and while foisting his wife on the Senate. Clearly, Clinton is a racist bastard!
I’m blowing raspberries.
Oh! By the way, I don't give a damn about the Aleppo brain fart. What is that compared to years of compromising national security, committing serial perjury and destroying evidence? Just in case you're wondering...
