Interviewing Bad Guys. The New Sacrilege in the Minds of the Bedwetters.
Knowledge trumps your feelings.
I have routinely referred to Putin on this Substack as “the little Russian jerkoff.” I suspect that won’t changed. On more than one occasion I counseled people who should have been smart enough to know better to keep an eye on him. He never got the memo that the Cold War was over. And he’s KGB. He’s not Ben goddamn Franklin. They didn’t take my advice.
I have more than once stated flatly that the Ukraine war could have been avoided. I am certain Putin couldn’t believe his good fortune as he crept slowly toward the Ukraine border, massing troops over months, and not getting REAL push back from the West. In fact the West, especially our puppet POTUS, telegraphed the sanctions Putin would feel AFTER he attacked. And they were manageable. Here is one example of that point.
All that said, we still have no intel about how the key protagonist thinks. That is we didn’t until now.
A lot of people have been burning up social media excoriating Tucker Carlson for shining a light on the little Russian jerkoff. That’s like bragging about how ignorant you are and telling people they should be too.
The fact is, like his Ukrainian counterpart, Putin has an agenda - and a worldview. If we don’t understand how he thinks, even if that is demonstrated in a venue where he may intend to deceive, we don’t know anything of value.
I wrote before the war that Putin was using the exact same playbook and almost the exact same words to justify his aggression as Hitler used before his earliest conquests. This applies to all areas he’s attacked over the last 25 years. Putin obliged me by repeating the same propaganda about Poland Hitler used 85 years ago, stating as fact how Germany was responding to aggression from Poland when they invaded. We have to assume he actually believes this, or has convinced himself of it. So, true or not, it is a window into his thinking.
Do yourself a favor. Don’t be a lemming. Expose yourself to the danger of learning. All this wailing and gnashing of teeth about Carlson doing the interview is beyond stupid. Mike Wallace interviewed the Iranian screwball, Khomeini when he was turning a modern country into a dark ages loony bin. He even agreed to sit on the floor, on pillows lower than the religious nut bag. Wallace employed the most obsequious language I’ve ever heard come out of a journalist’s mouth. There was far less hooting about that than we see here.
You don’t have to like Carlson. You damn sure don’t have to like Putin. But crying about the interview, as so many of our political whores are doing (pay attention Bill Kristol) is pointless. It advertises willful ignorance.
So there’s your choice: ignorant crybaby or informed American.
