PZ Gets IT Backward

A super quick quick hit.
Everyone knows I am a fan of Peter Zeihan. And most know I don’t follow or reject people based on ideology. I simply disagree when appropriate. There are those who I do hold in complete contempt because they are stooges of the permanent ruling class in the USA. Zeihan isn’t one of them.
If you want to know the numbers concerning trade, security and population around the world, Pete’s your guy. BUT…when he waxes political he flies miles from the target.
Today it was his read on why we have stalled aid to Ukraine. He charges, in a nut shell, that a small minority of Congress is blocking EVERYTHING they don’t like. These people, he claimes, are gumming up the works.
Here’s the reality. Ukraine aid is tied, by the holdouts, to the border. Close the border1 and you can have the aid. The Democrats for their part have offered poison pills in response, which demand everything they want and NOTHING of substance about the border2 … or anything else for that matter.
So, as usual, it is the Dems making any agreement impossible while they say the GOP is being stubborn.
Sorry, Pete. Your position on this one holds no water. But I totally enjoyed your bit about Finland.

And no, X billion more dollars to provide a bigger welcome wagon for ilegals is not a step toward compromise with ANY honest member of the GOP. McConnell likes it. But then McConnell, when he had GOP bills locked down for the win, would then reach across and offer a compromise. Ya see, Mitch, that’s not how it works. And your Dem counterparts would never treat your caucua to such consideration. Ever!
