Still Ahead of the Power Curve!
I had the opportunity to meet Dick Cheney when he was Secretary of Defense under Bush 41. I have always seen him as a cool customer, calculating and unflappable. That is exactly how he comes across in person. He is also a thinking man’s kind of leader. I think of all the advisors BUSH 43 had around him, Cheney was the most clear-eyed. He was far more cool-headed and less of a glory hound than his old boss, Don Rumsfeld.
So I was pleased to read the article I cite here. Not because of the subject matter. That is quite sad, although quite true. What I was pleased about was that a man of Cheney’s stature and ability echoes so closely what I have said here so many times. It is also fully in line with chapters 14 and 15 of my book.
This not a new phenomenon. I have watched with mixed emotions (satisfaction and frustration) as politicians and talking heads make points now, as if discovering gravity, that I made over the last three years. Better to see it out there finally, but frustrating that most people didn’t see it before now.
Anyway, I feel like I am in good company. Anybody who says they don’t enjoy the vindication from experienced people is a liar. It is good. And it is important.
Read this article, then order my book. You won’t be disappointed.
