Bad advice for Democrats.
In my book, from 2015 (revised in 2017), I said the conservative candidate who is teaching - is winning. The American voter has been rendered ignorant of history, economics and common sense by a train wreck of a media and through social fads. But the teaching thing is valid for both parties, IF you are a real candidate, and not an immature pop icon with no valid ideas.
In order to get past the noise on a grand scale, a candidate can’t just put out pithy commercials and get the standard endorsements. That might work in small districts that still share conservative values. But to win across the board, we must teach the realities that underpin our positions.
The Bulwark has a piece out about Mamdani suggesting the Dems should think twice about distancing themselves from the Maoist. In fact, the title of the article is What Zohran Can Teach the Centrists. TEACH.
But implying Dems should emulate, elevate or embrace the Maoist in any way is bad advice. Normal democrats, a dying breed and the GOP need to spend time educating voters about reality, economics and just being an adult. This is 180 degrees out from what Mamdani is preaching. He’s gonna give you everything, because he’s so KEWL!
This is the essence of what Mamdani is:
His relentless focus on the cost of living and affordability resonated with voters. His energy and conviction came across online and in person. He took risks, put himself in front of voters, and made sure those moments were captured for social media.
He speaks of affordability. But his plans will make NYC something no one will want to “afford”. And he doesn’t take risks with his political stunts. It would be risky to try to stake out workable stands. Getting likes and shares takes lazy populism - AstroTurf stunts.
Details and what New Yorkers should do are here.
Experts agree that Matt Jordan is ALWAYS right about “green” scams!
CORTES INVESTIGATES hosted an interview titled Blown Away: "Wind Scam" Interview with New Mexico Expert: Paul Guessing speaks with authority on Energy, Policy, and why Hydrocarbons must power our economy...
In this piece are echos of multiple articles and podcasts I’ve done one the subject, from my earliest critiques of wind and solar, to my suggested solutions, to my interview with Tilak Doshi, world renown energy expert, Part 1 and Part 2. I have pointed out in great detail what Paul Guessing asserts in his interview with Steve Cortes. I highly recommend any of those links.
Like I said, to get the things we want, we must first teach people the value of our plans.
You can boil this quick hit down to two basic facts:
Giving people other peoples’ stuff is not sound economic policy.
AND
Green scams like Wind and Solar farms don’t work, and are worse for the environment than anything that came before them.
Real solutions to Mamdani’s style of Maoist populism, and “green” scams, are in the links above.
Cheers.
