One Big Beautiful Bill? I'm not impressed.

The new budget is less than a baby step in the right direction.

The federal government will spend $7 trillion dollars in 2025. It will take in about $4.5 trillion in revenues. $2.5 trillion will be printed and added to the debt.

Almost every member of Congress in both houses have called for fiscal responsibility from the floor of their respective chambers, at one time or another. In committee, the same members were okay with spending the same or a bit more for their areas of responsibility. Individually, almost to a man, each member calls for far more spending on their districts and pet projects.

This is all absurd, indefensible and unsustainable. DOGE, at the rate it is progressing will amount to a mosquito bite in terms of cuts. And the cuts that need to be made must be made by the gutless wonders I described in the second paragraph. When will they get the guts to do what must be done to fix all this?

The answer is when they fear us more than their cronies. And that takes organization. It takes real energy on the part of citizens. I know you have reasons for not being a part of that. Most of the best reasons revolve around your kids. Well, this I will tell you. In very short order, there won’t be anything worth saving for those kids, certainly not theirs.

Scare tactics, you say? Fear mongering?

Let’s break it down. Every year our obligations to Social Security and Medicare grow. Those programs WILL BOTH collapse within about a decade if radical changes are not made. They should have been made a generation ago when the gutless wonders declared the problem fixed. They’ve made a few minor tweaks since 1983, but they were just as theatrical. The fact is, if we took steps to grandfather out the old system with a privatized version, Social Security would be solvent, or nearly so right now.

So the steps that must be taken now are the ones that NO ONE wants to take.

But our desires no longer match the state or our economy. And I haven’t even gotten to Medicare. That will require a second post and and dealing with Obamacare at the same time. It’s all a part of the same ugly, economy crushing monster.

Suffice it to say that Medicare and Medicaid will have to take a hit along with everything else. And we MUST DEMAND IT. And there’s the rub, right?

Mack Penny Plan

You’ve likely heard this before. If you cut every program by 1% every year for 6 years, you balance the budget. That would have to be recalculated since the political whores have done a great deal more damage since is was first introduced. But to be certain, by doing just that we would have a major impact on the fiscal health of our economy. And, cry as the big government, nanny state Lefty activists might, there is NO program that can’t afford such a haircut, and the exercise in efficiency would be a model for governance in the future.

Just eliminating under-tasked positions and reducing the fat from top-heavy organizations, a little each year would get us at least half way to the 6 year goal. But we can do far better than that.

Here are a few things we can start with. If it claims to be an NGO or “non-profit” stop sending it money. If the government cannot control and allocate the resources it wishes to deliver, then they should not be allocating such moneys to begin with! Every day we find more and more of these “non-profits” are money laundering schemes between politicians and cronies for their benefit ONLY!

Did you know the federal piggy has given money to the Tides Foundation? That’s a “non-profit” paying it’s senior officers insane amounts of money. It spends money putting weak-ass, soft on crime, American hating Lefties in office. They concentrate most heavily on district attorneys’ offices and State AGs. It’s also run by George Soros. He’s a multi-billionaire and he gets American tax dollars to carry out his ambitions against YOUR country.

Some NGOs and “non-profits” pocket their fat cut, then spend your money teaching illegals how to avoid ICE and game the system. Others take YOUR money and hand it to Hamas terrorists! But until DOGE, you had no way of knowing that. You were told these organizations were “helping” the less fortunate in the US and around the world.

All this must STOP, be zeroed out. And if real need exists, and we have our house back in order, start it again with heavy oversight. Congressional overseers must husband those funds jealously for fear of losing their jobs or facing charges of corruption.

Oh GAWD! Not the Military!

Yes, the military can afford to lose many hundreds of billions without impairing readiness. Just declaring so many more billions of dollars per year to “keep our nation safe” is the biggest con job of them all. And here the Right is usually the biggest enabler of a fat and lazy military bureaucracy.

Near the end of every fiscal year, sometimes quarterly, the call goes: SPEND ALL THE MONEY! Military activities are awarded X dollars to carry out their mission. Rarely is it not enough. Because there are a few honest, thorough people in the DoD, there was always money lefty over. Would that money be held over for the next fiscal year? NO! We’d be told to BUY SOMETHING! ANYTHING - anything we could logically, or not so logically, explain away as being needed.

If we didn’t, two things would happen. First, the money would vanish - poof! - cease to exist. That’s because it was funny money, borrowed from the Fed in a practice called fractionalized lending. A bookkeeping trick. When such money goes unspent, the Fed doesn’t want it back. It isn’t real money. Better for the Fed to show the money as having been spent by the customer. That keeps the loan on the books as an “asset”. Read The Creature from Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin to understand this.

The second thing that happens, if you show a balance at the end of the year, your organization is not rewarded for thrift, it gets next year’s budget cut. In reality, that’s not the end of the world, but it is logically backward.

Understand, this happens across the federal government including contractors with a strong working relationship to their governing departments. It’s probably a huge reason dead people keep receiving Social Security checks. Gotta keep those budgets fat!

The military is no exception. It might be, arguably, the worst offender. And the Armed Forces are heavily over administered. It’s unjustifiable. You’ve heard me say twice in the last two months that we have a military force less than one tenth the the size of the one we had in World War II. But we have more flag rank officers, especially three and four star officers, than we did in that war. All those admirals and generals get staffs. Big ones. To “justify” that there are countless redundancies in the chains of command. With today’s technology many functions performed by each individual chain of command, from the flag down, can be combined to be a force-wide activity.

The flag ranks, now very cozy with cronies and congress would howl! How can General Yes-man do this job (which could just as easily be done by a Major with half the staff), possibly manage without a complete organization that does all the same shit that Admiral Buttkiss chain is doing at the same time?!?! It’s inhumane!

So, yeah. when your Congressman says we gave the DoD $700 Billions dollars, ask him how much useless crap was cut first. You’ll be accused of wanting to make America unsafe. But you’d be right to ask, and accusation would be bullshit.

A quick side note before we move on:

All levels of government in this country perform large development functions. Building infrastructure, building out hardware and software, building their own offices, and on and on. And almost without exception there are insane “cost overruns”. These are the result sand-bagging the cost until the taxpayer is vested and on the hook or to finance kick backs, or both. The former is obvious. The kickback, whether speaking fees, campaign donations or contributions to a politician’s son’s “foundation”, it’s all the same - corruption. Don’t kid yourself, when it comes to baksheesh, we’re as bad as the Turks or Russians. And it occurs in this country to the tune of trillions of dollars.

Keep this in mind as I discuss Milton Friedman later.

Reality vs the Big Con

The federal government has three jobs: preserving fair interstate trade, national security and foreign affairs. We have, quite stupidly allowed them to take over every aspect of our lives. As a result they don’t do anything well, including their real jobs.

We could take 50% of all the money we give them, which is almost the same amount they borrow every year to perform unconstitutional functions, and our lives would continue apace. The taker-class wouldn’t be happy. And there are still jobs a state or local government might carry out, like welfare for the truly needy, and state and local roads and bridges. But all of it can be done for far less and does not have to be done by an already clumsy and over bloated federal leviathan.

Back to Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill

There is absolutely NOTHING beautiful about the spending Congress just voted for. Anything with the word “trillion” behind it is 80% corruption, 20% value to citizens. Don’t celebrate this. Instead use it to get mad as hell. Call you reps today and tell them to stop pissing away your money for cronies and themselves.

As a suggestion, tell them to start with the 2019 budget. That was a year when nobody died because the federal government didn’t piss away enough money, and a lower budget than the 2025. Then tell them to eliminate the department of education from the 2019 figure. THEN, tell them to cut the figure by 1% percent across the board, every department. Finally, tell them to do that every year for 5 years. And that is just the start of what we need to do to get control of this sick and ugly beast we call the federal government.

We’ll talk about establishing a fair and flat tax, reigning in the Fed and other major steps to prosperity and liberty in later shows.

I mentioned Milton Friedman earlier. Perhaps this story will put government spending into perspective and demonstrate the folly of allowing a giant federal monster to absorb most of your wealth through taxes, intentional inflation and debt which you didn’t incur.

I was going to relate it myself. Instead I’ll let him explain it so you can be properly disgusted with our present relationship with the federal government…or your state government if they are as corrupt and wasteful as, say, California or New York.
