The previous week:
The DOGE juggernaut rolls along. When it’s the DoD’s turn, I want everyone to remember, we have a military one-tenth the size of the one we had in WWII, with as many or more flag officers NOW. They’re fat and lazy. We can afford to make significant cuts and not hurt readiness.
Cabinet secretaries need to be brought into the same game as Musk. Telling people not to answer the emails is clearly turf protection. Except for the Department of Education, they’ll all still have “turf” to play on.
Evan Sayet had a great piece on spending this week. In response, on substack notes, I basically said we could cut all day. But if we don’t fix Social Security and Medicare it won’t matter. The economy will collapse. Wrap your head around that reality.
The Donald proved an assertion I make often, in his meeting with the Volodymyr. On an almost hourly basis, we know what he is thinking. He doesn’t stroke people with non-committal non-statements.
Then again… The Oval Office dressing down of Zelenskyy may have just as easily been another head feint. It’s like the tariff threats; one day he’s going to tariff Canada into penury, the next he’s having “beautiful” phone calls. Putin isn’t popping champagne corks, he’s as confused as Zelenzkyy - as confused as you are - right now.
In Zelenzkyy’s defense, that meeting was intended to put him on his back heel or make it appear so. But he didn’t intend disrespect. And the Oval Office is a place of business, where much worse has been said with the door closed. It’s not the Court of King Louis.
As they have for the last 8 weeks, the panty-clad declared Trump a dictator. Anticipate hearing that and “Russia, Russia, Russia!” for the next 3 years and 10 months. They have absolutely no other bullets in their belt.
Gene Hackman died this week. Only Samuel L. Jackson has had more movie roles. One of the hardest working men in Hollywood until he hit 70 and then just - quit. Walked away. People weren’t exactly his thing.
The Tate brothers, famous for their manly man routine, are in the United States. A plaintiff is upset that they were allowed to come here and defend themselves in court. If they are smart, they’ll stay here. As least here they have a smattering of free speech.
Random. (Not this week’s story, but the thought crossed my mind this week.). After a lot of consideration of past patterns and reading on the subject, I’ve reached a conclusion. Immigration raids in early February were targeted at the subhuman Tren De Aragua gang. There were leaks. When there are leaks concerning criminal gangs, the bellybutton for the leaks are not naive, bleeding heart do-gooders. Leaks of this nature originate with dirty cops and dirty administrators on the take. Pam Bondi: Find these douche bags and leave them doing hard time, among the general population, in federal prison.
I am better looking now, than I was last week. But that’s a given.

Part 2, coming Monday, 3 March, IS A BARN BURNER! It combines history, politics and our love for first responders in an emotional roller coaster. Don’t miss any of it!
